What On Earth Am I Here For?
40 Days of Purpose

This is a very basic outline of the 40 Days of Purpose campaign and the book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I highly recommend anyone who has an interest in strengthening your relationship with Christ check into taking part in an up and coming campaign or at least getting the book and committing yourself to 40 days of transforming your life with Christ.
I had the pleasure of taking part in the entire campaign along with my church, Spring Arbor Free Methodist church. The campaign included not only members of our church but the members of over 1000 other churches around the world. A simal-casting of the author Rick Warren, a very dynamic speaker and the founding pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California kicked off the campaign. For the next 40 days all services, Sunday school classes, and small group meetings centered on the 40 Days of Purpose. The book provides 40 days of daily reading each ending with a "Point to Ponder", "Verse to Remember", and "Question to Consider". Believe me when I say those questions to consider made me take a very close look at my life and my walk with the Lord past, present, and future. I suggest you start a journal and write down your responses to these questions. Only a week or two later going back and reading my own responses I could already see a transformation of sorts taking place in myself. Praise the Lord!

Why 40 Days? Through out the bible it is clear God
considers 40 days a spiritually important time perod:

*Noah's life was transformed by 40 days of rain
*Mosses was transformed by 40 days on Mount Sinai
*The spies were transformed by 40 days in the Promised Land
*Elijah was transformed when God gave him 40 days of strength from a single meal
*Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness
*The disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after his resurrection

"What On Earth Am I Here For?"
God created us all for 5 purposes

1) For God's Pleasure - or Worship

"For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation." Psalms 149:4

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment." Matthew 22:37-38(KJV)

"Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore." Psalms 105:4 (KJV)

2) For God's Family - or Fellowship

"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will," Ephesians 1:5 (KJV)

"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." 1 Timothy 3:15 (KJV)

3) To Become like Christ - or Discipleship

5) For a Mission - or Evangelism
