Once Upon a Silent Night

December wears a shawl of white
And every star is shining bright,
For peace has fallen on the earth
To celebrate the Savior's birth.
Each night is filled with wondrous things
As moonlight spills on angels wings.
Carols ring throughout the earth,
For every soul has felt its worth.
Every heart has felt the glow
Of candlelight and mistletoe.
Every heart is young once more,
Placing wreaths upon each door.
All is calm, all is still,
As sleigh bells echo from each hill,
Where wind-swept pines sway to and fro,
Casting purple shadows on the snow.
There seems to be no end in sight
Of joyous music in the night,
Of tinseled trees and frosted panes,
And snowmen wearing candy canes.
December mem'ries shall remain
Despite the snow and wind and rain,
For once upon a silent night,
A Savior came… and all was right!
